The State of DE&I – Do We Have the Stamina to Create a Sustainable, Equitable Future?

Three years after George Floyd’s murder, have companies been able to make substantial and measurable progress in creating more inclusive work environments and business practices? After coming off a sprint in DE&I activity over the past few years, do organizations have the stamina to continue to confront issues impeding progress to more equity in their employment practices? Undoing long-held cultural beliefs that promote inequality while hindering the achievement of business goals, takes sustained attention and effort.

On the morning of May 25th our panel of HR and DE&I Leaders will share the insights they have gained through this critical period for Philadelphia’s anchor institutions. They will facilitate a peer discussion with attendees and we look forward to you bringing your own experiences and challenges to the conversation.

Panelists:

• Erika Whyte - Vice President, Director Diversity, Equity and Inclusion - Janney Montgomery Scott, LLC
• Lisette Martinez - EVP, Community Engagement, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity - Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals
• Margolit Hillsberg, Chief Human Resources Officer – Janney Montgomery Scott, LLC

HR Burnout - It Really Is A Thing

The life of a HR professional has always been stressful but never more so than in the past two years. From managing essential workforces, to virtual work arrangements, to integrating social justice concerns into business life, to addressing the talent crisis, there seems to be an unending wave of challenges confronting CHRO’s and their teams. But, as they care for their organizations, who is caring for them.

At our April HREA meeting, we will hear from three area CHRO’s managing the real challenge of HR burnout for both their teams and for themselves. Through this interactive, facilitated discussion, we hope you will leave our session with learnings you can apply to preserve the health of your colleagues and your organizations:

Panelists:
Veronica Hawkins, PhD - Vice President, Human Resources – Nixon Medical
Don Hurford – Vice President, Human Resources– Parkway Corporation
Sebnem Kesen – Vice President of Human Resources – Berwind Corporation
