Sep 14, 2018 — On September 14th HREA spent their morning with Jonathan Segal, Partner – Duane Morris, LLP. Jonathan discussed common gaps and traps in pay equity, implicit bias and other business issues with material legal implications. The program also covered a discussion of the attorney-client privilege where a lack of understanding of how best to preserve the privilege has created material litigation risks.

Join us for our October Seminar titled, Talent Management at Vanguard: The Next Phase, featuring speaker, Lynda Risser, Head of HR Business Partner Organization and Organization Effectiveness Services at Vanguard. Vanguard has long held an excellent reputation for its succession planning practices and its ability to provide its emerging leaders with experiences that have allowed them to progress to the most senior levels in the organization. Utilizing a “best athlete” approach, Vanguard has provided rotational assignments to its high potential executives to develop their leadership skills and expose them to colleagues and organizational challenges across the enterprise. Given the growth of Vanguard’s business and its geographical expansion, the company is embarking on a new phase of talent management and succession planning practice that will cement its position as an industry leader. As it continues its successful rotational program, Vanguard is also focusing on developing best in class domain expertise that will enhance the functional excellence of its leaders. Additionally, this new approach delves deeper into the organization to identify and develop earlier career high potentials, as well as provide greater visibility as to where talent gaps may exist at the company. At our October HREA meeting, Lynda Risser, Head of HR Business Partner Organization and Organization Effectiveness Services at Vanguard, will lead an interactive discussion regarding the strategy and tactics employed to move Vanguard to this new phase of its talent and succession practices and the challenges that have been, and must be, overcome for the company to achieve its objectives.
